Once a hunting ground on the wrong side of town, Regent's Park is now a lush haven of stylish gardens, playing fields, the London Zoo and the city's only permanent open-air theater. The park has woodlands, grassland and wetland, and is well-equipped with a boating lake, playgrounds, running paths, tennis courts, sports center, cafes and refreshment stands. Live music and Shakespeare are performed at the open-air theater during the summer months. To the north of the park is Primrose Hill, which has great views over Westminster and the City. Open daily from 5 am, closing times vary by month. Tube station: Regent's Park, St John's Wood or Baker Street, London NW1. Phone 020-7486-7905. http://www.royalparks.gov.uk.
